During Covid-isolation, career artists Annette Blady and Al Van Mil created something completely new to express the impact on their lives. Re-inventing a technique they call MOULAGE, they produced a collection of unexpected and evocative 3D paintings that literally rise from the canvas. Their inspiration was the momentum that results when individuals joined together by adversity make positive changes.
“The Covid crisis was a call for society to bravely dismantle that which defines us, and to rethink and rebuild ourselves. We accepted what turned out to be this surprisingly playful challenge, as citizens and as artists.”
